About our hrv & erv systems service

New and retrofitted Simcoe County homes are tighter than ever, which is great for energy bills but rough on air quality. An HRV or ERV brings in continuous fresh air while recovering 70-85% of the heat (or cool) from the air it exhausts. We install, repair, and service HRV and ERV units from Lifebreath, Venmar, and Broan.

Every new build in Sharon, Holland Landing, Queensville, and the newer Alcona phases has an HRV, and a startling number of them have never been commissioned or cleaned since the builder left. We find cores clogged solid, balancing dampers still at factory position, and intake hoods screened over with lint. Rebalancing an existing HRV usually costs a fraction of a replacement and fixes the window condensation homeowners assumed was a window problem.

What's included

  • HRV for cold Ontario winters; ERV for humidity control
  • New installs and full retrofits
  • Repair and re-balancing of existing units
  • Filter and core cleaning on annual service

How the visit works

  1. 1
    Assess ventilation needs
Home size, occupants, and existing ductwork all factor in.
  2. 2
    Install or repair
Ducted properly with dedicated stale-air pickups where they matter.
  3. 3
    Balance the flows
Supply and exhaust CFM measured and balanced for correct pressure.

Where we provide hrv & erv systems

Innisfil is home base, and our trucks run the same routes daily across Simcoe County and north York Region.

  • Barrie Barrie's older downtown and Allandale homes leak air at the envelope but not at the ducts, which is exactly the combination that leaves upstairs rooms stale.
  • Bradford West Gwillimbury Marsh soil and farm activity around Bradford push a lot of fine dust indoors, and filtration there earns its keep every spring.
  • Essa Rural Essa properties on well water and gravel roads deal with grit that a one-inch filter simply cannot hold.
  • East Gwillimbury Newer Queensville and Sharon homes are sealed tight enough that mechanical ventilation is the only thing keeping indoor humidity in range.
  • Springwater Wood heat is still common through Elmvale and Hillsdale, and combustion particulate is the main air-quality concern we address there.
  • Newmarket Allergy complaints in Newmarket peak with the spring pollen load, and a properly sealed return does more than any add-on filter.
  • Oro-Medonte Walk-out basements and lakeside crawlspaces across Oro-Medonte drive the summer humidity problems homeowners call us about.
  • New Tecumseth Alliston's mix of farmland and industry means both pollen and fine particulate, so we usually spec media depth over gimmick features.
